Since 1970, New York Women in Communications has been honoring exceptional women in the communications industry at the Matrix Awards. CooperKatz and DePalma Production were asked to bring fresh thinking and reimagine the show to
coincide with the launch of their new branding.
NYWICI engaged CooperKatz and DePalma Production to breathe new life into their premier industry event, the Matrix Awards.
CooperKatz and DePalma were given a blank slate to start designing a clean, fresh and modern set within the iconic Grand Ballroom at the Waldorf Astoria. The first order of business was to design the stage / dais that could sit 20 honorees, presenters, sponsors and NYWICI executives. CooperKatz and DePalma started with a three screen look which included a large 28-foot wide center screen that became the centerpiece. The dais was designed using printed hard-set panels that transformed and integrated ordinary tables seamlessly into the set. Even the podium was designed with internal LED lights that would dramatically change colors along with the stage curtains.
CooperKatz and DePalma work with NYWICI to set the agenda including presentations and speeches by honorees, presenters, sponsors and NYWICI executives; design the overall look and feel of the awards luncheon; produce onsite signage; manage the creation of the theme and speaker introductory PowerPoint graphics used throughout; oversee all pre-production technical planning and onsite staging; schedule and run all rehearsals including speaker coaching; and serve as a liaison with NYWICI executives and conference sponsors.
