5 Questions with Meredith Topalanchik, PR News’ 2017 Top Women in PR

This week has been a major showing in women power from around the world. Today, I am honored to interview one of our very own strong women, Meredith Topalanchik, EVP of Operations and Client Services, who was recently named to the 2017 Top Women in PR by PR News.

I have had the privilege of working with Meredith for nearly a decade, and I can attest very few people lead with the grace and style that she does. She’s smart, kind and humble. She makes her clients and her teams feel important, and in turn, coming to work each day is a joy. She is unquestionably one of my greatest role models, as a mentor, colleague and friend.

Congratulations Meredith. We couldn’t be more proud!

5 Questions with Meredith Topalanchik

What strong woman has shaped your life, and in what way?

My mother.  As a single mom raising an only daughter, she showed strength even during difficult times. Life can be pretty scary, but she taught me to stand up and power through.

What woman today do you feel is a true role model?

Wow, there are so many wonderful women role models in today's society it's hard to choose. But I think in this moment I would choose Hillary Clinton for gracefully accepting the results of the election. She could have been our first female president. She put everything into it not once, but twice, and she gave it her best effort. It's hard to show grace in a business setting, but she led by example.

What would you do if you weren't in PR?

I would get my doctorate in art history and tour the world. Paris is one of my favorite cities for art, and Florence for architecture and design. But for now, I am lucky enough to live in New York City, where I visit the MET anytime I want and experience something new each time.

In what way do you try to be a mentor to others?

For me, it's about being real. You don't have to have all the answers; just offering a POV that is of value will prove that you will find a solution. I also believe in being responsive to people. It's a simple way to show respect. Sometimes it's the small things; a quick response to acknowledge someone's question goes a long way

Do you have a favorite campaign?

This one is hard - it's like picking a favorite movie! I loved the work we did with Petfinder.com to help adoptable pets find homes. It was the perfect combination of a personal passion and professional creativity. We were making a difference and impacting a business at the same time.
