Fresh Faces is a series on our blog in which we introduce new members of the CooperKatz team. In this post, get to know our new account coordinator, Katherine Morrison!
1. What inspired you to start your career in PR?
Growing up, I always loved listening to stories and writing. Later on in high school, I picked up photography as a hobby and that’s when I believe I truly became interested in public relations because I saw it as a way to communicate a brand/organization’s story through various mediums.
2. You’ve been at CooperKatz for a little more than two months now. What has surprised you the most about working in PR?
One thing that constantly surprises me each day is how much you learn about various topics. For example, in the past two months, I’ve learned more about artificial intelligence and blockchain then I would’ve ever imagined. It’s exciting to expand your horizons.
3. What is one of your favorite things to do in New York City?
I’m a huge fan of nature so I love going to parks around the city and relaxing. It’s nice to nice escape from the concrete jungle for a bit and completely re-energize. Central Park is always a favorite but I recently went to Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City with friends and loved seeing the Manhattan skyline at night!
4. If you could meet one public figure, past or present, who would it be and why?
Audrey Hepburn because she is one of my favorite actresses/role models and I would love to have a conversation with her.
5. Tell us a “fun fact” about you.
Something that people are always surprised to learn about me is that I speak Korean (not fluently but hopefully one day!) Korean was one of my minors in college in and I always found the language to be so fascinating and fun to learn. I studied abroad in South Korea during the fall of my junior year and it was by far one of the best experiences of my life!
