Brigham Young University, Class of 2016
What do you study?
Public relations with a minor in business management.
What is the best class you’ve ever taken, and why did you love it?
My favorite class I’ve ever taken was called “Media Effects.” As a PR major, I’m fascinated by the media. It was so interesting to learn about how powerful it can be and the impact it can have on people. I still find myself applying things we discussed in class to my life and my work.
Then again, my ice skating class was totally boss.
Why did you decide to intern in the PR industry?
I love working with people and finding ways to solve their problems. That’s why PR appeals to me. I’m really happy to be in an agency where I can work with lots of different clients and get a wide range of PR experience.
What are you liking best about CooperKatz?
I really like that CooperKatz has made me feel like I’m a part of the team. Even though I’m just an intern, I’ve been given plenty of real work for multiple accounts. And I love the people I get to work with. I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks, but everyone has been so welcoming and kind. CooperKatz really feels like a big, professional family, and I just feel lucky I get to be a part of it right now.
What’s the best thing about NYC so far?
The best thing about NYC is that it’s impossible to be bored here. I’m from Idaho—the very definition of a small town girl—so New York’s been such a fun and exciting place to be. Every day in this city is an adventure.
What are your plans after graduation?
Like a true Millennial, I’m still trying to figure out what I’m doing with my life. I’ve actually been accepted to law school this fall, but I’m taking this summer to make sure that’s the right direction for me.
Any fun facts about yourself that you’d like to share?
- My favorite music comes straight from the 80s. If you catch me rocking out on the subway, that’s probably what I’m listening to.
- I was a competitive gymnast for seven years. I’m a total showoff, so feel free to ask me to do something cool. I’ll do my best to impress!
- I lived in Paris for a summer.
- I’m obsessed with red pandas. Literally, I could watch them on YouTube all day.
If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not), who would you have dinner with and why?
I’m such a cliché, but I just want a big dinner with my whole family. I took that for granted when I lived at home.
As for a less obvious answer, I’d have dinner with Lucille Ball because I was the biggest fan of “I Love Lucy” as a little girl, and I’m convinced we’d have been best friends if we’d ever met. I think she’d have some great stories and would keep me laughing through the whole meal!
