As an account supervisor at CooperKatz, Nick Sowards plays a key role on the account teams for Zipcar and Polar, driving a variety of activities from strategic planning and media relations to tradeshow support and media training.

Since joining CooperKatz in 2006, Nick has helped raise awareness for Polar, the leader in heart rate monitoring and fitness assessment technologies, by garnering national media coverage for new products and company executives through creative demos, tradeshow support and extensive media outreach. He has also helped develop and execute the company’s social media strategy, writing and producing content for YouTube and Facebook. On the Zipcar account, Nick manages PR initiatives in several regional markets, developing PR plans, writing releases, and supporting events, helping to place a wide range of stories with local media outlets. For Teliris, the leading telepresence company, he raised awareness through high-profile media demos, tradeshow planning/support and expert outreach. For U.S. Preventive Medicine, he helped develop the company's media strategy and launch plan, as well as writing press materials and conducting ongoing media relations.
 
Prior to joining CooperKatz, Nick served as the PR Manager at Avinti, an emerging technology company focused on e-mail security. As a student, he interned with Hunter Public Relations in New York City, working with clients such as Netbank, Campbell's Soup and Cold Stone Creamery.
 
He also interned with Connect Public Relations in Provo, Utah, supporting its high-tech clients, Siemens and Symantec. At both firms, Nick handled research, writing and media relations responsibilities.
 
He holds a bachelor's degree in communications, with an emphasis in public relations, from Brigham Young University. He is also an amateur photojournalist, who worked for his collegiate newspaper.
