Melissa Connerton joined CooperKatz & Company as an account supervisor with a strong background in developing strategic initiatives for a range of business-to-business and consumer products and healthcare accounts. Her past experience includes planning and driving day-to-day media relations programs, including strategy development, project execution and media events. She is also skilled at researching and writing case studies and bylined articles for vertical trade market outreach.
Currently, she supervises the Jackson Hewitt Tax Service account, supporting the company's corporate communications needs as well as those of its network of over 6,500 locally owned franchise offices. She also manages public relations activities for wireless provider Virgin Mobile USA and for the healthcare division of Tefen USA, an international management consulting firm.
Prior to joining CooperKatz, Ms. Connerton served as senior account executive at CKPR (formerly Nichol & Company), where she played a key role on the GlaxoSmithKline and MeadWestvaco account teams. Before that, Ms. Connerton worked as senior publicist for the 92nd Street Y, a century-old Manhattan institution specializing in arts and culture and community programming. During her tenure she cultivated local, national and international print, broadcast and online media coverage for the center's lectures, dance performances, parenting programs and more.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Connerton worked for Middleberg & Associates, where she helped to launch the American Express Blue card and assisted with media relations and corporate positioning for financial and business-to-business clients.
Ms. Connerton holds a bachelor's degree in English from Smith College and a master's degree in English from Boston College.
