To underscore the central role and rights of music creators – particularly in the face of ongoing debates over copyright law – CooperKatz conducts a comprehensive advocacy and awareness-building campaign for ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).

This program – targeted at policymakers, music industry influentials, the general public and ASCAP members – works to articulate the role of copyright in the digital age and its contribution to a creative society. It also aims to ensure that the voice of ASCAP and its members are heard in the debates over the future of music.

Key program components have included a white paper authored by CooperKatz, titled ‘Music Copyright in the Digital Age,’ and a ‘Bill of Rights for Songwriters and Composers,’ designed as a grassroots advocacy initiative as well as a vehicle for facilitating mainstream media coverage and social media buzz. CooperKatz also provides PR support for the annual ASCAP ‘I Create Music’ EXPO in Los Angeles, CA and books high-level media briefings/backgrounders for ASCAP’s leadership with top-tier news outlets and leading industry trade publications.
