New TowerGroup Database Tracks Electronic Trading Platform Usage
TowerGroup, a Needham, Mass.-based research and advisory firm that focuses on technology in financial securities, has launched a new database that tracks electronic trading systems.
TowerGroup's new Electronic Financial Marketplace Service, which was launched last week, will gather information on more than 200 electronic trading systems in both foreign and domestic markets. This information includes what the systems trade, which dealers are involved, the markets served, system types, and trading volumes.
"We have 250 systems out there," explained Larry Tabb, vice president of securities and investments practice at TowerGroup. "This is a way to keep track of all the different systems out there."
Anyone interested in researching with EFM can go on the TowerGroup Web site at www.towergroup.com, click on the electronic financial marketplace link, and pay for the information through a separate subscription to the EFM service, according to Tabb.
"Compiled information on electronic trading systems has been piecemeal at best," Tabb noted. "In both its scope and the depth of information available to subscribers, EFM is unrivaled in the marketplace."
