Meet our amazing summer interns Kristen Solomon and Greg Liodice.
Greg Liodice (GL): I am currently attending Hofstra University with a major in Public Relations and a minor in Psychology.
Kristen Solomon (KS): I go the University of Georgia (Go DAWGS!), and I study English and PR.
(GL): Probably the team environment that CK emphasizes. Besides playing sports, I’ve never really been a part of a team that is after one common goal. It’s truly inspiring to see seeing how everyone thrives off of each other and encourages one another to become better at what they do. I could definitely see myself working long term in an atmosphere like this.
(KS): Until this summer I had only worked in consumer PR, so I’ve really enjoyed learning about B2B and healthcare PR from such a leader in the industry. It’s more in the weeds than the type of work I’ve done in the past, so I was nervous initially, but everyone has been so patient and willing to answer questions/help. It’s freeing to learn and work in an environment where mistakes are okay and questions are celebrated.
(GL): I’ve learned that pitching isn’t as bad as you might think. I remember when I first was told that I was going to be pitching, I was pretty nervous. But once I started, I realized that it’s one of the easier and most satisfying things I’ve done so far.
(KS): It’s exciting (and maybe a little intimidating) to look at the variety of clients that we have. Learning how to switch gears between clients and adapt their different voices is as much challenging as it is rewarding. Also: So. Much. Free. Food.
(GL): First, I’m focused on graduating from college. After that I’d like to establish myself in the PR world, be able to make a good enough living to live on my own, and have the ability to travel to places I’ve always wanted to go to.
(KS): This question has caused me a quarter life crisis, but in five years I want to be sipping a glass of chardonnay in a cute little apartment somewhere in Brooklyn, working a job I love and creatively writing on the side.
(GL): Being such a sports fanatic, my dream would be to represent any professional sports team as their own PR guy. I always have been fascinated with what goes on behind the scenes of a professional sports team and it’s something I would love to be a part of.
(KS): Hmmmm… that’s a tough one, but I’d have to go with Glossier. Their brand is so socially in-touch and inclusive. Not to mention their CEO/Founder is a total girlboss!!
