Instead of throwing ourselves a fancy party for our 20th anniversary, we shut down the office, rolled up our sleeves and organized 2,500 pounds of food.

Clipboards. Headsets. Group texts. People trying to crash the party. People trying to be the party. When it comes to managing on-site PR for events, we are often divided into two camps – those who love it, and thrive off the pressure and energy of the moment, or those who would rather do anything else. 

Recent pro bono work for non-profit organizations has inspired CooperKatz team members. One staff member reflects on her involvement with two impactful organizations.

Last week, the CooperKatz team helped out at the annual Skating with the Stars event benefiting Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH), an organization that offers year-round academic and fitness programs for underserved girls. This is CK’s fourth year participating in the event that takes place at Trump Rink in Central Park. 

While CK worked with FSH staff to gather celebrities, coordinate media coverage, manage the press tent, tweet and more, guests glided side-by-side with figure-skating royalty including Johnny Weir, Evan Lysacek, Scott Hamilton, Sarah Hughes and Tara Lipinski. Actress Tamara Tunie, fashion expert Carson Kressley, Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin and renowned designer Vera Wang were just a few of the celebrities also in attendance.
